A detail in my kit is wrong. Can it be fixed?

Whichever kind of mistake it is, do it before the form goes anywhere. A corrected form costs you a few minutes; a form corrected after a counter visit costs you the trip.

If the detail is one you gave us — you can fix it yourself

A middle name spelled differently on your certificate than you expected, an address that moved between buying and sending, a county you had to look up afterward. Your interview stays open after you buy, so none of these needs us. Open the form from your kit page with “Check it over”, click the box that is wrong, and you land on the question that fills it. Change the answer, go back to your kit, and build the documents again — every form, letter and step is rewritten from your answers as they stand.

You can also go straight into the interview and change the answer there if you already know which step it is on. Either way there is nothing to ask for and nothing to pay, for as long as your answers are kept — a year from delivery.

If we filled something in wrong

A field populated incorrectly from what you told us, the wrong form for your circumstances, a document that failed to render — that one is ours. Email support@namechangeworks.com from the address you bought with, say which document and which line, and we correct it and re-issue it at no charge, for a year from your purchase. If you would rather have your money back, we refund you in full.

Your letters, checklist and state sheet are all built from the same set of answers, so a detail that is wrong in one place is usually wrong in several — which is why the fix is a rebuild rather than a correction to one file. An agency matches what you wrote to what is printed on your document.

Two things are always yours rather than ours: the signature and the date you sign, which stay blank on every document, and the Social Security number, which we never hold. A form that looks unfinished in those places is finished.

Check names against the certified copy itself rather than against memory — punctuation, hyphens and all. It is the version the counter will be reading from.
